Death Disco's Stance on What Ad-Ver-Sary & Antigen Did at Kinetic

As the debate continues after what Ad·ver·sary and Antigen Shift did, I would like to make it very clear where Death Disco stands. Simply put, Jairus and Nick are right. They were right to use the platform they were given. They were right to raise this issue directly to the fans and bands that they were accusing. They are right to demand better.

If you only take one thing from this entire episode it should be to think critically about the messages you support with your actions and your dollars. Every action, every transaction is a vote for the kind of world you want live in. Saying "WE DEMAND BETTER" doesn't mean you can't like Combichrist and Nachtmahr. It is not us trying to tell you want to think or what to do. Far from it. This is a call to think critically about our scene; about YOUR scene. Our art, our music and our dress is how we represent our beliefs. "WE DEMAND BETTER" is something that everyone can live. As fans, DJs, musicians and inhabitants of Earth we can choose to accept our world as is or we can work to make things a little better for everyone around us. Sometimes this process requires some tough love and hard internal reflection but if "WE DEMAND BETTER" we have to do that. ~ Ryan "DOLSTON" Clark

Note: Respect for all and freedom of artistic expression is something we at Death Disco try to foster with every show we do. We hope you will take those ideals with you to the club, the internet and coffee shops where you will talk about this. To join the debate with us, head over to our Facebook page or hit up Ad-Ver-Sary and Anitgen Shift's pages. If this subject has touched a nerve with you make sure talk about it with your friends and family. The issues of equality and artistic expression are universal after all.

Any comments or concerns you have can be addressed to me directly. My contact info is under the DJ section. Otherwise, feel free to talk to me at Death Disco.

Dark Carnival - Halloween Edition

It's finally here! The event we've all been waiting for - HALLOWEEN

Death Disco and Industrial Strength are partnering up this year to throw one hell of a 2 night party. On October 31st and November 1st we are beyond proud to bring you LIVE :

En Esch, Gunter Schulz w/Mona Mur [including performances of classic *KMFDM material in their repertoire for the evening!]
Promonium Jesters
Iszoloscope
Ivardensphere
Ad-ver-sary

Performances from :

Dancing with her Glow-in-the-dark poi spinning, the one and only "Poi Sin" from the Sin Sisters.

Burlesque performances ranging from modern twists to classic gangster homages to the very roots of burlesque by Ottawa's very own Bourbon & Spice Burlesque.

Two very different modern twists on traditional belly dance performances. Firstly we have our very own Oksana performing classic belly dancing with a dark, gothic twist. Secondly we have a duo performing what is described as "A Gothic Fusion Bellydance performance inspired by those once believed to carry human souls to the land of the dead. This alternative piece features exquisite costuming, original music and a macabre twist on the crows that haunt the October skies."

LIVE art creation by Canadian artists including renowned painter David Cation, among others and we are still looking for other visual artists to join with us in creating a co-opertive acrylic painting, created live throughout both nights of the festival.

Showcasing of various works by local artists throughout the bar.

Interactive and demonstrative workshops including, but not limited to liquid latex body painting, DIY 'found object' art where the average clubgoer is encouraged to pick up a brush and try their hand at a little art.

Sponsored so far by Wicked Wanda's and Jagermeister with a $500 grand prize for best costume as well as other give-aways and prizes throughout both nights!

AND MUCH MORE TO COME! We are still adding performers and artists to the nights so PLEASE get in touch to discuss your participation in the event.

Tickets will be on sale ASAP via The Record Shaap, Ticketweb, Death Disco and INDUSTRIAL_STRENGTH Tuesdays and more details about tickets posted shortly as detailed prices to come but the best deal will be to buy tickets in advance for both nights for $30!
